So many new bills creating more bureaucracy, programs, expanded government control over our lives.  The taxpayers are being asked to pay more and more of their hard earned money to others who did not earn it.  Stop!  Before you create a new program, you should have to choose another program to defund and cancel.  You must start living within your means!

Another layer of government bureaucracy to protect, shelter, explain benefits to illegals?  How about teaching them how to LEGALLY become taxpaying, English-speaking citizens who participate in society? I urge a no vote on SB186.

It is highly prejudicial to single out immigrants — both legal and illegal??? — for these services. We have plenty of Americans, especially the young about to enter adulthood, who would also benefit from a program like this. And as we know all too well, they are not learning any of this in school now.

The proper place to run this is in an adult education class in the local school, open to everybody, open especially to the American taxpayer who funds it.

This bill creates the office of New Americans in the Governor’s Office.  It will cost $395,714 over 2017 to 2019.  It allows this office to engage in advocacy (lobbying) to makes recommendations concerning law and policy affecting illegal immigrants to advance economic and population growth in this State.

The Governor appoints a Director who then shall advise the Governor and each state agency on all matters relating to the formulation and implementation of policies, programs and procedures affecting illegal immigrants. His office serves as a coordinating agency to assist illegal immigrants with entrepreneurship, professional licensing, business resources that harness their skills, workforce development, education, housing, health care and overall “quality of life.” Read the bill: https://www.leg.state.nv.us/Session/79th2017/Bills/SB/SB186.pdf

Definition of Sanctuary City From Wikipedia ” In the United States a sanctuary city is a city (or State)  which permits residence by undocumented immigrants to help them avoid deportation. Leaders of sanctuary cities want undocumented immigrants to have less fear of deportation, so they will be more willing to report crimes, use health services or social welfare benefits and enroll their children in school. Municipal policies include prohibiting police or city employees from questioning people about their immigration status and not cooperating with the national government to enforce immigration law. Such policies can be set expressly in law (de jure) or observed in practice (de facto)…Approximately 300 U.S. jurisdictions, including cities, counties and states, reportedly have adopted sanctuary policies.”

Vote No on SB186. Don’t make Nevada a Sanctuary State by creating and funding a government office for Illegal Immigrants. Don’t spend more tax dollars to help immigrants when Nevadans are already carrying a huge burden to pay for schools, medical care, and welfare for illegal immigrants.

I oppose SB186 which creates the office of New Americans in the Governor’s Office to assist immigrants. It is outrageous that it makes no differentiation between legal and illegal. It will cost according to the fiscal note $395,714 over 2017 to 2019, which is a waste of tax payers money. Nevadans are already over burdened with taxes. Also, it allows this office to engage in advocacy (lobbying) to makes recommendations concerning law and policy affecting immigrants to advance economic and population growth in this State. This is putting one group above others in Nevada. This new office would serve as a coordinating agency to assist immigrants with entrepreneurship, professional licensing, business resources that harness their skills, workforce development, education, housing, health care and overall “quality of life”. Native Nevadans need these kinds of help too. Again I say, this is putting one group above others in Nevada and is just one more unnecessary bureaucratic expense on the Nevada taxpayers. Please vote “NO” on SB186.
