This bill would extend the expiration of the “Construction Manger At Risk”(CMR) statutes. As has been seen here in Carson City the CMR contracts seem to be the only way public works projects actually get built on time and within the budget.
CMR means just that, the Construction manager is at risk if the project is over budget because he is the one who guaranteed the price. This saves communities money and time.
Section 4 eliminates the $5 million threshold for the Design-Build Team method of building public works projects. The Design-Build Team method is equally good as the CMR and lowering the value threshold to allow its use on any public works project will help save communities money and time.
