Another renewable energy push that calls for more utility ratepayer money ($40,000,000) spent on solar, waterpower and wind projects after $255 million has already been appropriated from all ratepayers at the state level. To date the benefits have gone largely to people who can afford to pay on their own and who also receive a 30% tax credit from Federal taxpayers. More than $80 billion by Bush II and Obama has gone to the renewable energy industries in taxpayer subsidies. Subsidized waterpower and wind projects in NV have had virtually no participants thus far. If these technologies are so beneficial and commercially viable on their own, why do they require continued, involuntary subsidies from non-program participants?
