This is bill is nonsense. The ERA is nonsense. Men and women are NOT equal. You can’t legislate biological differences out of existence. You have to preserve the special protections that common sense and decency extends to women only and precisely because of those biological differences.
I oppose SJR2 the Equal Rights Amendment because it will transfer from the State Legislature to the Federal Government all laws governing marriage, divorce, family property law, adoptions, alimony, some criminal laws, public and private schools, prison regulations and insurance rates. It will increase the power of the Federal far to much. I do not want bureaucrats in Washington DC to have so much power in our lives. The state legislatures would have little to say about anything. I am for individual states rights not for an all powerful Federal government. Please vote “No” on SJR2.
-The Feminists DO NOT represent me or my family.
-ERA is dead. The time ran out in 1982. Of the 35 states that passed it 5 rescinded. Nevada defeated ERA 3 times in the Legislature and on the ballot by 68%.
-Equal Pay for EQUAL work is already the law starting with the Equal Pay Act of 1963. ERA does not force men and women to make the same choices in employment. (see link below for Equal Pay Act)
-Will transfer from the State Legislatures to the Federal Government all laws governing marriage, divorce, family property law, adoptions, abortions, alimony, some criminal laws, public and private schools, prison regulations, and insurance rates.
-Senator Sam Ervin said,” If this Equal Rights Amendment is adopted, it will virtually reduce the States of this Nation to meaningless zeroes on the Nation’s map.”
-Will put same-sex marriage into the US Constitution.
-Will require taxpayer funding of abortions, prohibit parental notification laws and laws against partial-birth abortion.
-Will apply the draft registration law to 18-26 year-old women and serving in combat just like men.
-How will the US Supreme Court define “on account of sex”? There will be no special protections for women allowed.
